Samsung has a huge presence across all sorts of different product categories so it is no surprise that they are one of the dominant TV manufacturers right now. This fact alone may encourage a lot of TV shoppers to go straight to the Samsung brand and forget about the competition. But actually finding that perfect TV that towers above the competition isn’t very simple especially considering the possibility of price fluctuations. Plus, Samsung has a staggering lineup of TVs each with different sizes and different variants. The key to picking the proper Samsung TV is to figure out your ideal size and then decide how much you are willing to pay for the features that matter the most. For example, the Samsung UN46F7500 is a very high-end TV but it is priced at only $1,500 primarily because of its 46-inch display. But a closer look is still necessary as there are plenty of other 46-inch alternatives out there.
The UN46F7500 is a simple and elegant looking TV with an incredibly thin bezel. Even though the Samsung UN46F7500 is the smallest TV of the F7500 series, the screen still looks pretty big thanks to the 0.25-inch bezel. It is also an edge-lit LED display so the premium aspects like the thin profile are present. Samsung continues to equip many of their TVs including the F7500 with a rose gold quad stand that is quite pleasant to look at. As with just about all other high-end HDTVs, the UN46F7500 has 4 HDMI ports, a couple of composite inputs and a single set of component inputs. 3 USB ports seems a bit excessive but at least you still have space for extra USB storage devices if you decide to add a USB peripheral.
The Samsung UN46F7500 makes the midrange and lower-end Samsung models a bit less interesting because of the Ultra Clear Panel featured in this high-end model. This special panel is uniquely designed to absorb ambient light to eliminate those unwanted reflections. It also makes a positive impact to the overall color quality and contrast. Blacks look deeper and shadows appear more defined. The Micro Dimming Pro technology also contributes to the contrast optimization and eliminates image distortions too. Cheaper models in the F7100 and F6400 series only have the standard version of Micro Dimming.
Another thing that makes the F7500 a bit more advanced is its Clear Motion Rate of 960. This value considers not only the 240 Hz refresh rate but also advanced backlight technology and image processor speed for very clear fast-moving imagery. The UN46F7500 supports 3D content too and if you don’t have any 3D movies or other videos, you can use the 2D to 3D Conversion feature, which works quite well.
One of the main benefits of getting a Samsung TV is its Smart Hub interface that serves as a gateway to all the networking and online features. Armed with built-in Wi-Fi, the Samsung UN46F7500 is set to connect to your router so it essentially becomes a giant tablet (without the touchscreen of course). It may not be running Android or Google TV but the interface does resemble a tablet and it comes complete with an app store where you can download all sorts of apps that let you log into social networking services, read news, play games and stream multimedia. The Smart Touch Remote that comes with the package features a touch pad to make interaction simpler. Samsung’s Smart TV experience excels in variety so you won’t need a separate media player or PC to get your Netflix, YouTube or Hulu fix. The Web browser app is there if you need to check out other websites and they don’t have any corresponding Smart TV apps. If you plan on using the Web browser and other Smart TV features, you should consider at least the UN46F7500 rather than the lower-end models because of the TV’s speedier quad core processor.
Other extra features exclusive to the Samsung UN46F7500 and other higher-end models include the Smart Interaction 2.0 feature which offers some rather gimmicky ways to control the TV. The TV’s recognition of hand gestures is probably the least useful extra feature although it is quite cool to show to your friends how magical it is to change a channel. The voice commands are a bit more impressive because you can literally ask the TV for program suggestions and the UN46F7500 will respond. The F7500 series is also one of the two series of Samsung’s 2013 LED TV lineup to have a built-in camera. Many Smart TVs nowadays support the Skype app but you will need a special webcam for that particular TV to engage in a video session with someone. With the Samsung UN46F7500, you won’t need an extra accessory as you just apply slight pressure on the top bezel to pop up the camera. Finally, the UN46F7500 features the Smart Evolution Port so this TV shouldn’t feel so outdated in the future. The only catch is that you must purchase the Smart Evolution Kit separately to deliver any new features and improvements to this TV once Samsung releases the kit.
Like other modern Samsung TVs with the Smart Hub interface, the Samsung UN46F7500 gives Samsung Galaxy device owners the AllShare (Samsung Link) benefit. This allows mobile devices with the Samsung Link app installed to stream all sorts of multimedia content to the TV. PCs and laptops can do this too.
When you compare the UN46F7500 directly to its predecessor, the ES7500, there are not that many improvements on paper. However, the Samsung UN46F7500 boasts better image quality and a far friendlier and faster Smart Hub 2.0 interface making the newer TV a worthy recommendation even if the ES7500 models are cheaper. The built-in camera and Smart Interaction may not be for everyone but this high-end TV is still a rather inexpensive way to experience most of Samsung’s advanced LED technologies. Besides, the $1,500 price tag still makes this TV far less expensive than those massive 4K TVs.
