The curved screen era is finally upon us! With the Korean electronics giants unveiling their versions of the curved OLED HDTVs, Sony has countered with a much more affordable edge-lit 65-inch Sony Bravia KDL-65S990A.
The curved screens are a technology borrowed from screens found in movie theaters and are said to provide an immersive experience that make viewers feel like they are truly part of the action. However, the curve also means visual distortion for viewers and limits the off-axis viewing of people sitting too far left or right of the TV.
The Sony KDL-65S990A is currently at the top of Sony’s HDTV range with its expanded color palette via Sony’s Triluminos color technology for deeper reds, greens and blues. It also features a most sophisticated signal processing, 3-D capability, Smart TV Internet functions and a total of eight front facing speakers angled for a surround-sound experience.
