A new TV revolution is happening and some day all TVs will be made this way – curved, sexy and OLED!
LG launched its first OLED TV costing $15,000 in July. Hot on its heels, Samsung just launched its first OLED TV that is $6000 cheaper! Competition is getting red hot even before other major brands chime in, which is good news for consumers.
OLED (or Organic Light Emitting Diode) TVs are thin, flexible, uses less energy and brilliant in color and contrast. Each pixel illuminates itself and is totally pitch black when it’s not active giving you absolute black levels. This is a something neither Plasmas nor LCD have never been able to deliver.
The Samsung KN55S9C is a 55″ model just like the LG. It has over 6 million OLED sub-pixels that emit either red, blue or green light and uses a slightly different method of implementation but the picture quality is equally stunning nonetheless.
It comes with an interesting feature called ‘Multi View”. It’s like two TVs in one. It allows two people to watch different 2 different programs in full HD simultaneously! It puts an end to family in-fighting over TV programs.
Further energy savings are achieved by an “Eco Sensor” that measures the intensity of the light in the room and automatically adjusts the brightness of the TV.
The TV scene will become more interesting in the years ahead with manufacturers battling for market share with better features and picture quality; and with lower running costs.
